Mustafa Çetin: Why Turkish? Because Turkey is a bridge between the East and the West. Turkish is a mathematical language. It is a unique language, completely different from the western ones. When you learn Turkish, you have the chance to get to know the East. With Turkish language, you come across a culture that spreads from Bosnia-Herzegovina to China. When you speak Turkish, you are able to communicate with people from almost every part of this vast area.

Hasan Kaili: There are some special personal factors that lead someone to start learning a new language. In most cases, it has to do with finding new work opportunities or the possibility to communicate better when you live or you visit the target country. Most often we learn a new language because we are interested in the culture of a country or because we just like learning new things. When it has to do with Turkish language, there are some special factors that favour the acquisition of that language. Turkey is strategically and culturally connected with Central Asia and the Middle East. Its economic power has being growing rapidly during the last years. In addition, as Turkey comes closer to EU, its economic importance will still be enforced. So, learning Turkish is an important factor for all those who want to do business with that large country. Turkish language has about 75 million speakers, as a first or second language. In this way it belongs to the group of most spoken languages in the world. There are also many Turkish speaking communities in Balkan Peninsula, in Caucasus and very big Turkish communities in Western Europe and around the world.

Eutychios Gabriel: There is a Turkish saying which gives a full explanation about the reason of learning Turkish or any other language: "Bir lisan bir insan - İki lisan iki insan". In other words, whoever knows one language is one person, whoever knows two languages becomes two persons as he/she gets to know the culture and the way of life of other people.

Tina Zogopoulou (Gives the Turkish-Greek dimension): Greece and Turkey have come closer during the last years. It's really fascinating for Greeks to discover their neighbour. The European prospect of Turkey, has increased the interest and the demand for Turkish language. The economic and trade relations between the two countries have increased rapidly. In Greece, more and more people choose to learn Turkish because this language gives them an advantage in job market, in fields like trade and tourism. When our language school started providing Turkish lessons in 2005, we had 80 students. In 2015 we had more than 400. In parallel, as we represent the University of Istanbul (İstanbul Üniversitesi), every year we organize Turkish language certification exams. The number of participants, from every part of the country, increases significantly every year. The demand for Turkish language in Greece keeps growing along with the demand for Greek language in Turkey.

Christina Sanlioglou (The Turkish language in Greece): Until the end of the 20th century, teaching Turkish in Greece was a quite difficult task. The interest for the language was very limited along with the access to bibliography and educational resources. Teachers of Turkish had also to confront prejudices against the language. Since the first decade of the 21st century, the situation has changed. Some critical factors were the improvement of Greek-Turkish relations and the new department of Turkish studies at the University of Athens, which created a bridge between Greek and Turkish scholars. For many people in Greece, Turkish is a familiar language as they use many Turkish words in their everyday life, without knowing their origin. Many people used to hear their grandmother use some Turkish expressions, because of her origin, without knowing their meaning. By learning Turkish, they can finally understand them. Turkish language opens new doors. It gives more chances to work, create and show your skills. By learning Turkish you have the opportunity to get to know and live another culture.
